Yolanda Coentro

President & CEO

Yolanda Coentro is the President and CEO of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP), a national organization that equips social impact leaders with the skills, resources, networks, and confidence to boldly advance their organizations and missions–helping build a more equitable future.

Under Yolanda’s leadership, INP has expanded its nationally recognized leadership development programs and alumni network and launched new initiatives that advance racial and gender equity and broaden access to leadership development nationwide, reaching leaders across diverse regions and communities.

Yolanda has been recognized as one of The NonProfit Times’ “Power & Influence Top 50,” The Chronicle of Philanthropy’s “15 More People Changing the Nonprofit World,” and the Boston Business Journal’s “Power 50 Movement Makers.” Her honors include the Barr Fellowship, Moakley Public Service Award, and 2021 SCI Idealist Award. She was also named CVS Health’s 2023 Female Leader of the Year and one of Boston Magazine’s “150 Most Influential Bostonians” of 2024 and 2025.

In addition to leading INP, Yolanda has consulted with nonprofits and companies across sectors to advance organizational change and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. Prior to becoming INP’s President and CEO in 2016, she held leadership roles at The Home for Little Wanderers, YWCA Boston, and Horizons for Homeless Children.

Yolanda serves on the board of the Civic Action Project, on the advisory boards of the Center for Effective Philanthropy and the Center for State Policy Analysis, is an ambassador for the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project, and is a proud INP alum. She holds a BA and an MSW from Boston College.
