Patrick Kirby

Chief Strategy & Administration Officer, Executive Vice President

With over 25 years of management and leadership experience spanning the nonprofit, corporate, and public sectors, Pat is building the Institute’s growth strategy to expand to new communities and deepen impact through innovative new programs and partnerships.

Pat began his career teaching at high schools in Montreal, Canada and Lawrence, Massachusetts before taking on a range of roles at the national nonprofit City Year at a time when they were fast-expanding across the country. He then spent five years in the Corporate Social Responsibility department of the Timberland Company where he led a global team responsible for expanding employee engagement and community impact across 23 countries of operation. Transitioning back to the educational nonprofit sector in 2007, Patrick became the Executive Director, Massachusetts, and later Chief Operating Officer for Citizen Schools, a national organization helping middle school students excel in school and beyond through hands-on career-building mentorships.

Pat is an alum of the Institute’s Core Program in Boston and he joined INP’s faculty in 2016 before joining the organization full time in 2018. He currently serves on the National Board of Trustees for Thrive Scholars, a national organization helping high-achieving, underrepresented students graduate from top colleges and excel in their chosen careers. He has previously served on the Boards at GroundWork USA, the Orchard Gardens K-8 School, and the Brookings Institute’s “Building Bridges Task Force on International Volunteering and Service.” Pat is a graduate of McGill University in his birth city of Montreal, Canada.
