Kate Heusner

Chief Development Officer

Kate Heusner is a nonprofit executive and cultural entrepreneur specializing in institutional infrastructure and growth strategy. Throughout a career spanning the international art market, higher education, and social impact, Kate has raised tens of millions of dollars to support innovative programs across the U.S. and Europe. She believes that access to art, education, beauty, and creativity are essential components of a thriving local economy, and has dedicated
her career to helping communities flourish.

Kate began her career in Paris, France, helping launch a blue-chip contemporary art gallery before transitioning into the museum and academic sectors. Her work has increasingly focused on the design of sophisticated major gift programs and ground-up initiatives, including leading high-impact growth efforts within the University of California system.

As Chief Development Officer for the Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP), Kate serves on the executive team responsible for architecting the financial sustainability and national expansion of INP’s mission. Her expertise lies in building the sophisticated partnerships and philanthropic frameworks required to equip social sector leaders with the tools they need to drive systemic change.

Deeply invested in the national nonprofit ecosystem, Kate serves on the boards of Catholic Charities Diocese San Diego (Governance and Development committees) and the Southborough Community Fund at the Community Foundation for MetroWest (Governance Chair). She is a member of the National Programming Committee for ArtTable and Chairs the Southborough Cultural Arts Council. A frequent grant review panelist for regional and national arts organizations, Kate holds degrees in art history from Boston College and the University of Oregon. She lives in Southborough with her husband and two sons, where she is also a partner in her family’s small business with locations in Wayland and Acton.
