Janelle Romero

Manager of Early Career Program Operations

Janelle has over 20 years of experience in Chicago’s nonprofit and public sectors, mainly in educational program management. She is passionate about providing quality educational and leadership development opportunities. Throughout her career she has worked at institutions and organizations including After School Matters, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Chicago Park District, and Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Most recently, Janelle joins INP from New Sector Alliance. At New Sector, she managed the Summer Fellowship, reinstated the Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE) Fellowship in Chicago, managed a design-thinking based workforce training program with major national organizational partners, and was instrumental in converting in-person programs to virtual programming at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

Janelle is also passionate about living in the City of Chicago and loves to explore the cultural institutions, parks, playgrounds, beaches, food, and everything else the city has to offer with her husband and two young children.

Janelle holds a BA in English from Northwestern University and a MA in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
