Alex Shores

Program Coordinator

Alex Shores (he/him) is a dedicated nonprofit program manager, with experience in program development, volunteer coordination, and strategic planning.

Alex joined the Institute for Nonprofit Practice in September 2025, after working for various nonprofit organizations, including the National MS Society, Entertainment 2 Affect Change, and Make-a-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In these roles, he has developed impactful programming nationally, engaged over 2,000 volunteers and interns across New England, and managed logistics for events of various sizes.

One of his proudest accomplishments is developing Entertainment 2 Affect Change’s new student fellowship program from scratch, where college film students in eight cities across the country learn about social impact and partner with a local nonprofit to produce a short documentary on their behalf.

In his free time, Alex enjoys playing guitar, writing, volunteering, and practicing tennis with his friends. Although originally from Mesa, Arizona, he has lived in Boston for five years now, and values the importance of service and civic engagement within the local community.
