Director of Equity & Community Engagement, Rhode Island Executive Office of Health & Human Services

Kilah Walters-Clinton is a strategist, equity leader, and systems builder with over two decades of experience in government, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership. She currently serves as the Director of Equity and Community Engagement at the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services, where she partners with senior state leaders to embed health equity into public systems and foster inclusive, community-centered governance.

Kilah also leads as President of The Providence Shelter, a nearly 200-year-old Quaker-rooted organization that annually invests more than $60,000 into the educational and social advancement of historically underserved youth. She serves on the Providence College President’s Council, the Board of the RI Red Cross, and chairs the Leadership Rhode Island 2025 Program Committee, shaping the development of emerging civic leaders statewide. This fall Kilah will be honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Southern New England Girl Scouts.

A graduate of INP’s Core Certificate Program (2021) and a 2024 Black Leadership Institute Fellow, Kilah now serves as a Senior Faculty Fellow in INP’s Core Program, where she guides and mentors nonprofit leaders in building equity-driven organizations. She holds a Master’s in Counseling from Providence College and is ABD in Education & Leadership at Johnson & Wales University.
