Kailey CartwrightSenior Fellow, Western New York

Director, Learning & Development, SurveyMonkey

Kailey is a seasoned nonprofit professional with over 14 years’ experience in learning and development, organizational talent development, and people and culture. She excels at leading multifaceted, collaborative projects centered around employee experience and diversity, equity, and inclusion, including recruiting/hiring/onboarding processes, leadership development, and manager training to meet just-in-time needs, and performance management and succession planning.

For the last 13 years she served at Year Up, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to close the opportunity divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education. In 2015, Kailey built and grew the Staff Learning Team at Year Up, bringing together a diverse group of talented leaders who were passionate about creating best-in-class learning experiences. Kailey led the development and delivery of multiple company-wide learning experiences, including a 2019 multi-day offsite in Orlando for 1,000 team members that featured and celebrated LGBTQA+ stories and experiences. Since 2020, she led the development of virtual experiences that included professional workshops (topics included becoming an anti-racist organization, managing through chaos, and non-linear careers) as well as well-being workshops (topics included mindfulness, the Marie Kondo organizational method, and a high-intensity workout tailored to differing abilities). In November 2021, Kailey joined the Diversity & Social Impact team at SurveyMonkey as the Senior DE&I Learning Program Manager where she was responsible for creating global learning experiences to meet the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives. Kailey was promoted to lead the Learning & Development organization at SurveyMonkey in August 2023. In this role, she is responsible for reinvigorating learning at the organization and continues to bring a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to the creation of learning experiences, with a focus on leadership development for underrepresented employees.

Kailey was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and after almost 15 years away (including eight wonderful years in San Francisco!) has moved back to the area with her husband, Chris, and their adorable three-legged dog named Charlie.
