Celina Miranda, Ph.D.Senior Fellow, Boston

Executive Director, Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF)

Celina Miranda is a multi-talented leader who is passionate about leveraging philanthropy and the social sector to provide marginalized communities and BIPOC youth with increased access to opportunities that lead to thriving futures. With over two decades of powering youth development and education programs through philanthropic investment, Celina’s commitment to service was born of her experience as a child of immigrants and being the first in her family to attend college. After graduating from Smith College, she earned two master’s degrees (social work and education) and a doctorate in sociology and social work from Boston University.

Celina is based in the Boston area where she is Executive Director of the Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF). In this role she guides and secures funding for education, career, life skills, and arts-focused programs. This work taps into her facility for working with diverse groups of stakeholders to solve problems, set strategy, grow revenue, and administer funding. Celina is proud of her ability to nurture relationships and build talented teams of leaders who are also devoted to service.

Before joining HSTF in August of 2016, Celina led strategy and grantmaking approaches for The Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation and managed charitable giving for BNY Mellon Financial Corporation. She has been a vital leader with several nonprofit organizations, including her most recent tenure as a Board Member at both the Rutland Corner Foundation and the Mass Nonprofit Network. These experiences and others have made her a thorough and empathetic leader who is able to offer both strategic and tactical perspectives on approaches to and the impact of philanthropic work.
