Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for Consultants Program

In partnership with TSNE Mission Works, we are excited to announce the launch of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) for Consultants Program. This is a new cohort-based program designed for nonprofit consultants who are interested in honing their skill and confidence in integrating a DEIB lens into their work with clients. Over the course of eight sessions, participants will gain insights into the evolving field of DEIB practice, engage with key frameworks, and apply learnings to their own practice all within a learning community of peers.

  • Looking to engage in meaningful conversations with peers and prepared to learn through self-reflection?
  • Eager to learn more about systems of oppression and the impact of structural inequities?

Then this program is for you. Whether your client work focuses on fundraising, financial management, event planning, marketing, or organizational development, this program will help hone your practice.

In addition to race, gender identity and sexual orientation, we aim to select a cohort that is also diverse in functional expertise and experience. Our goal is to help you build your skill, confidence, and knowledge base for the rest of your career.


The inaugural class fee is $1,000 for eight sessions and upon completion, program participants will receive a certificate of professional development from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice.

Interested participants will be required to complete a short application form and participate in an interview with the Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP) and TSNE Mission Works. While the first and last sessions will be 90 minutes long, the six intervening sessions will be three hours in duration. All sessions will be held virtually from April 2021 to June 2021.

Participants must commit to attending all eight sessions.

Sessions will begin with a candid discussion about the role of the consultant in advancing DEIB practices and behaviors with their clients. The sessions will progress through a series of topics including power and privilege, othering and belonging, antiracism, and implicit bias. Participants will engage in facilitated peer coaching to surface and problem-solve DEIB situations present in each consultant’s practice using our highly regarded case method model and the principles of appreciative inquiry. In addition to the sessions, participants will be provided a robust set of readings and activities to incorporate into their practice.
