Position Summary

The Director, Information Technology (IT) provides strategic leadership, vision, planning, and support to enhance and advance the Institute for Nonprofit Practice’s mission, values, and business objectives. The Director, IT will build and oversee INP’s IT department and other technical operations to meet the needs of a growing organization. They will identify the organization’s IT needs, add updates and enhancements to current computer systems and ensure employees’ technical issues are resolved efficiently. The Director, It is responsible for the design, delivery, and day-to-day stability of INP’s network and systems and will lead efforts to identify, prioritize, and resolve critical system-related issues that impact INP’s operations. With deep technical expertise, the Director, IT prepares for and manages the deployment, and continued administration of technology solutions to improve the overall health of INP’s workplace systems. This role will have one direct report, the Lead System Administrator.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in and contributes to regular strategic planning activities on programming and business priorities to develop and align technology support effectively
  • Develops and enhances the technology delivery policy and process to ensure scalable, repeatable, and predictable delivery of projects and services
  • Creates and maintains processes and standards for selection, implementation and support of systems and ensures smooth delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring systems performance
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new technology solutions to solve ongoing IT related shortcomings by consulting with senior-level stakeholders across INP
  • Identifies opportunities, recommend, and implements solutions for improving the overall system health by assessing overall effectiveness and efficiency
  • Builds the IT department infrastructure including the internal IT Support Help Desk
  • Identifies security vulnerabilities and eliminates them with strategic solutions that increase data safety and leads to ensure that system hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware, security patches and software requirements
  • Maintains contracts, licenses, and budget transparency for Infrastructure related costs and manages key vendor relationships to ensure the quality of service and economic value
  • Supervises the Lead Systems Administrator who is tasked with the operations of the data center, remote office networking, and workplace systems & services
  • Provides functional reporting and updates and top-level leadership and proactively communicates the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues

Additional Responsibilities

  • Directs and leads through change, and effectively project manages large- and small-scale IT projects and be able to garner buy-in and support for new technology solutions
  • Ensure that IT’s communication with the end-user community is thorough, professional, and service-oriented
  • Develops and enhances the technology delivery policy and process to ensure scalable, repeatable, and predictable delivery of projects and services

  • Demonstrated superior expertise in system related concepts, i.e., Directory Services, Systems, Internet Protocols, Virtualization technologies related to applications, servers and storage, and Storage technologies

Compensation and Benefits

INP offers a competitive salary for all staff positions. The exact salary that will be offered to the Director Information Technology will be determined based on a consideration of the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and geography and aligned with INP’s compensation policies. Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000

Physical Requirements

Currently, the Institute for Nonprofit Practice team is working remotely based out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our community. Following the office opening, this position would allow for a flexible remote working arrangement although proximity to the office is desired given the nature of the role.
